South Africa's low point of the current growth cycle has been reached, with a registered 0.9% growth for the third quarter of 2009. Recovery from the global economic downturn appears in sight. The latest positive growth figure means the country is no longer technically in a recession.

However, there are a number of economic risks persisting and the expected recovery will not be smooth, the country faces a slow recovery.
